What is Gravellina?

A gravel bike ride along country roads that can get really busy in autumn, when the apples are ripe and the grape harvest is near. Farmers and winegrowers have a lot of work to do, so say hello but let them get on with it!

The trail leads through a landscape marked by a traditional balance between human beings and nature, a bit like the rocks in the drystone walls of the terraces used in the local ‘heroic’ winegrowing. On our way, surrounded by the Alps: villages, castles, churches and the local inhabitants.

Without a thought in the world, except obviously when it comes to the uphill bits! There’s an enjoyable mix of terrains: dirt, paved, some singletrack and a few stretches over surfaced roads.

A weekend in the Valtellina: you, your bike, local food and a glass of wine for a toast with your new friends.

Gravellina is also for anyone who hasn’t (yet) tried gravel biking. The old quarter of Sondrio is the perfect place to listen to some music, so take it easy and posà (local dialect for taking a short or even long break from whatever you’re doing, specially if it takes effort).
